Hunting Taylor Brown by Rhys Hagan
Excerpt from chapter seven:
Suddenly, a red SUV carefully navigating between the trees appeared in his view. It parked near the shack, and Hall saw someone disembark from the aging vehicle; an older, barrel-chested man with sharp, hardened features and thick-rimmed glasses.
Hall’s stomach sank. He could feel his military instincts kicking in; gentle and quiet breathing, keen attention to details, and a disciplined stillness were habitually overtaking him.
The man briskly stepped to the back door of his car and struggled with something that Hall couldn’t quite make out at first. Dragging it aggressively, it slumped to the ground and squirmed. Then, bending down and hoisting it over his shoulder, he made his way to the cabin with what Hall could now see was a young girl, bound, blindfolded, and screaming.
